Munari Wines
Munari Wines, nestled in the heart of Victoria's Heathcote wine region, offers wine enthusiasts a captivating blend of history, exceptional wines, and warm hospitality. Located just 7 minutes north of Heathcote and 90 minutes from Melbourne, this boutique winery provides a memorable experience for visitors.
The Estate
Situated at the base of Mount Ida, Munari Wines is surrounded by gum trees and the picturesque Lady's Creek. The estate, established in 1992 by Adrian and Deborah Munari, has transformed from a small vineyard with a shearing shed and stables into a beautifully restored winery and cellar door.
Vineyard and Terroir
The vineyard sits on red Cambrian greenstone foundations, part of a strip of super complex mineral deposits. This unique soil, combined with the Mediterranean climate, produces fruit with bold, complex, and concentrated flavors that are distinctively Heathcote "terroir." The estate primarily grows Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, with newly grafted Sangiovese vines adding to their Italian-inspired offerings.
The Wines
Munari Wines boasts an impressive range of wines, including:
Reds: World-famous Heathcote Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and red blends
Whites: Prosecco, Vermentino, and Garganega
Rosé: Grenache Rosé
Dessert Wines: Late Harvest Viognier and Fortified Shiraz
Flagship wines include the 94-point rated "Lady's Pass" Shiraz and the "Schoolhouse Red" blend. The winery also produces Italian-inspired varieties, reflecting Adrian Munari's passion for diverse winemaking styles.
Cellar Door Experience
The cellar door, housed in the beautifully renovated former stables, offers an intimate and educational seated tasting experience. Visitors can explore the historic wine cellar and taste through the full range of wines while learning about the fascinating stories behind each label.
