Kaesler Wines
Kaesler Wines, nestled in the heart of the Barossa Valley, South Australia, offers visitors a rich blend of history, premium wines, and authentic Australian wine country experiences.
History and Heritage
Kaesler's roots run deep in the Barossa Valley, with the original Kaesler family settling in the region in the 1840s. The first vines on the property were planted in 1893, and some of these ancient, dry-grown vines still contribute to Kaesler's renowned wines today. This connection to the past gives Kaesler a unique position among Barossa wineries, offering visitors a tangible link to the region's pioneering days.
Vineyard and Wines
The winery boasts 37 hectares of vineyards, with the majority featuring old vine material up to 129 years old. The estate is divided between the 28-hectare Home Block surrounding the winery and the 9.21-hectare Marananga block on the western side of Barossa.
Kaesler is particularly famous for its premium Shiraz wines, including:
The Old Bastard Shiraz
A highly regarded wine made from gnarly old 'bush vines' planted in 1893. It has achieved Langton's 'Outstanding' classification and is considered a benchmark Barossa Shiraz.
Old Vine Shiraz
Another premium offering showcasing the depth and complexity of Barossa's old vines.
The Bogan Shiraz
A bold expression of Barossa Shiraz.
In addition to Shiraz, Kaesler also produces other varietals such as the Avignon Grenache/Mourvèdre blend, demonstrating the winery's versatility.
